Puerta del Sol- Madrid - Spain -May 2011

As seen above, in Madrid's very central Plaza del Sol, the people of Spain have camped out for true democracy. those crowds were for the first time in Spanish history not affiliated with any political parties
and gather diverse ideologies. The same has occurred in Tahrir square in Cairo, Egypt- as shown below- starting from the 25th of Jan till the people of Egypt, presented by the whole social and ideological spectrum, united under no individual leadership, were able to overthrow the president at the 11th of February.

As shown below, the plazas were turned into an informal revolutionary parliment. They developed into something like a parallel autonomous city within a city.

Quotes

The people from the barrio built the city twice: during the day we built the houses of the well-off. At night and at weekends, with solidarity, we built our own homes, our barrio.
